Corsair RM1000i Special Edition White PSUs Hit eBay At Crazy Prices

Corsair only made 100 of the RMi Series RM1000i Special Edition White Fully Modular Power Supply and sold them for the same price as a regular RM1000i PSU. Those special individually numbered units are painted white with white individually sleeved cables and the unit is topped off with a white LED fluid dynamic bearing fan. Despite selling over 10 million power supplies over the past decade, it looks like Corsair might have underestimated the demand for this limited edition model as they are starting to show up on eBay at crazy prices. For example one is on auction with a starting price of $450 and a Buy It Now price of $1,500. If those prices aren’t inflated enough they are making the buyer pay $25 in shipping fees on top of that.

Another eBay member is selling one for $649.99 Buy It Now or best offer. That is a letter better than $1,500 and the seller is shipping it for free, but still more than triple the original selling price when it came out just last month.

Corsair has confirmed that only 50 of the power supplies were sold to actual customers as the other 50 were given to review sites for promotion, giveaways and so on. It’s a pretty cool looking power supply, but how hard it is really to paint the housing white, switch the fan over to a white LED and buy a braided white cable kit? The hardest thing to replicate would be the ‘special edition’ sticker on the side and the individual numbering, but there are people out there than can duplicate stickers!
