Corsair DOMINATOR Modules Get 18K Gold Plated

The World’s Fastest Memory Gets 18 Karat Gold Plated

With all the attention this month focused on the launch of NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 GTS graphics cards and 680i SLI motherboard much of the other industry news has been overlooked since the media is having a field day with the industry’s first fully unified architecture-based DirectX 10 compatible GPU’s. One of those stories that I feel has been looked over is the one about Corsair memory.  On the first of November Corsair sent out a press release stating that they have sold over 1 million XMS based modules! That means they have sold more than a million XMS, XMS PRO, XMS XPERT and the just released XMS DOMINATOR modules this year alone!

Celebrating the company?s 1 millionth shipment in 2006, Corsair is currently offering 5 custom 2GB DDR2-8888 gold-plated DOMINATOR memory kits as contest prizes. These modules are rated to operate at 1111MHz at impressive timings of 4-4-4-12 2T. The PC2-8888 modules also feature the best IC’s that Corsair can find, so computer memory doesn’t get any better than the TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF kit. What the press release fails to mention is that these gold plated modules are actually plated with real gold. After getting all the details from Corsair it was found that these modules are 18 Karat gold plated! If you look up the price of regular Corsair PC2-8888C4 DOMINATOR modules online you will quickly find that a 2GB kit will set you back $610, so the 18K version is priceless. Not to mention you’ll have something none of your friends will ever be able to buy!
