Asian countries tend to get some very weird food related tie ins, but typically these odd foodstuffs are limited to Japan. This time out, China is getting a KFC, or Kentucky Fried Chicken, branded smartphone that is meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the fried chicken eatery in the country. The smartphone will be an extremely limited quantity offering.

Only 5,000 units will be sold and it will be in the bright red color that KFC is known for in its packaging and restaurants. The smartphone will have the KFC logo laser engraved on the rear of the device and is a Huawei Enjoy 7, also known as the Y7 Prime in some countries reports Android Headlines. The limited edition device isn’t detailed, but it is expected to have the same hardware inside as the Enjoy 7.

That would mean a 5-inch LCD screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is a premium version of the device packing 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and it is unclear if this KFC phone is the premium version or not. Both versions have a microSD card slot.

The KFC phone sells for 1,099 yuan in China, making it a bit less than $162 in the US. That is the same price the Enjoy 7 Premium sells for so this device is thought to be the 3GB/32GB version. Other than the red color and KFC logo, the smartphone also comes with a KFC app with 100,000 K Dollars that can be spent on music using the K-music service. The device goes on sale today.
