China: 111 Million People With Internet in 2005

As of the end of 2005, there were 111 million Internet users in China, growing by 18.1% on-year, according to statistics released by the China Internet Network Information Center. This is an amazing number and shows how quickly China is growing in terms of adapting technology.

Of the users, 64.30 million accessed the Internet through broadband connections, increasing by 50.2% from a year earlier, according to CNNIC. In 2005, users surfed the Internet an average of 15.9 hours a week with an expense of 103.6 yuan (US$12.8) a month, noted the agency, adding that there were 49.5 million PCs connected to the Internet, rising by 19.0% on-year.
