Bungie Talks Future of Destiny 2

Yesterday we talked a bit about Bungie canceling a livestream showing off its new DLC to talk to fans about where Destiny 2 was going. That chat was had and now we know more about what Bungie plans. Bungie director Luke Smith says that the company needs to be more open and that Bungie plans to refocus on efforts on catering to players who want to play Destiny 2 long-term.

He said, “Going forward, Destiny 2’s post-launch game systems, features, and updates are being designed specifically to focus on and support players who want Destiny to be their hobby–the game they return to, and a game where friendships are made. We want Destiny to be a game that fits into your life, providing you with reasons to log in and play with your friends, clans, and families. We want Destiny to be a world you want to be a part of.”

Two updates are coming with the first landing alongside Curse of Osiris next month and another on December 12. The patches will according to Bungie: “Deepen rewards for advanced players; provide more player control over obtaining rewards; make Shards useful by adding things to use them for; provide general quality fixes wherever possible.”

Part of the update will add Armor ornaments allowing players to change their look without changing shaders of mods. Changes to how mods are acquired are coming and players will be able to dismantle Rare mods for Gunsmith materials and have a chance to produce Legendary quality mod components. The December 12 mod will bring Masterworks versions of Legendary weapons. They will track and display kills with that weapon reports Gamespot.
