Bungie Reveals More About Destiny 2

By

Bungie revealed the first gameplay footage of its anticipated sequel to Destiny. The reveal took place in Los Angeles and those tuning in the Bungie Twitch stream. Unlike the original, Destiny 2 appears to focus on retaking Earths last colony from a new threat and to save the Traveler to truly become a legend.

The first person shooter offers a variety of game modes with its casual element of play as well as competitive. The sequel will offer new mechanics to enhance the experience for new and returning players. Humanity is invaded by Lord Ghaul of the Red Legion and has stripped all guardians of their exotics and emotes. Additionally, players will continue to explore the solar system frontier to earn a new line up of weapons and enhanced abilities. Destiny 2 will take players to the European Dead Zone, Titan, Nessus, and Io. Destiny 2 offers new adventures, Lost Sectors, and Public Events.

Bungie promises missions will be shorter and vastly improve the story and lore of the Destiny universe. To be fair, any slight improvement to its storytelling will be a grand improvement. The Lost Sectors are enemy dungeons players may discover. The dungeons will feature unique enemies to have players earn the treasures within. The Public Events will be unique and optional as before to jump in alone or with up to nine other guardians. In addition, Strikes and Raids are returning and expected to have a familiar structure.

Crucible will feature a competitive 4v4 PvP with new game modes and maps. Countdown will be a new mode which players will spawn on alternating offense or defense. In addition, the purpose is to place a bomb on the enemy base and to defend it until time expires. First team to accumulate six victories wins the game. Furthermore, reviving teammates comes with a twist. A revive token is required and weapon ammo is limited to the player who presses the command for ammo. Teamwork is necessary for Competitive 4v4 PvP.

Destiny 2 is rumored to come to PC through Battle.net. The PC version will feature:

  • 4K Resolution Support (3820 x 2160)
  • Uncapped framerate
  • Full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping
  • Text chat
  • Adjustable Field of View
  • Detailed PC setting screen
  • 21:9 monitor support

When Destiny released in 2014, it felt as though the game was incomplete and the Destiny community made Bungie well aware of felt issues. It was controversial the game relied heavily on several expansion packs to feel complete. Furthermore, fans felt pressed to purchase DLC in order to have accessibility to the games vanilla features. Nonetheless, Destiny became an overall impressive game and great experience to play with friends. The union of a well-polished FPS and MMO which does not require a monthly feemade for a creative and new experience gamers expected at time the current generation of consoles were new.

In addition to releasing on PS4 and Xbox One, Destiny 2 will make its first appearance of the series to PC. PlayStation will receive unique offers such as timed exclusive content. Hopefully, Bungie will resolve the errors they made initially with Destinys first release and release a more complete game from start with Destiny 2. The game will release September 8th 2017 on PC, PlaysStation 4, and Xbox One. Furthermore, an open beta will be available with pre-orders this summer.
