Bungie Backtracks on Locking Players Out of Some Content Without DLC Purchase

Bungie cant seem to get it right as it tries to squeeze all the money it can out of fans of Destiny 2. Fan anger and the backlash has already forced Bungie to eat lots of crow in recent months. Bungie has now admitted that it has made another major mistake with gamers by locking people out of activities they were previously able to play if they didnt buy the new DLC.

Bungie wrote in a blog post, “Its clear that weve made some mistakes with how we have handled content access.” That mistake boils down to trying to keep the endgame content relevant to players by raising power required to take on the content.

This power requirement was raised to levels that were only supported in the new DLC which meant that gamers who didnt buy that DLC had no way to gain the power required. This move essentially made it impossible to play that content without a DLC purchase.

Before the launch of that DLC that Prestige Raid was readily accessible to all gamers who owned the game. Bungie’s fix for this misstep was to drop the power requirement for the Prestige Leviathan Raid to power 300 and to drop the rewards to match. All players can again play the raid reports Kotaku.
