Today, we take a quick look at Booq’s newest briefcase-style case for laptops, the Boa Case. Booq, the privately held company located in Southern California, has been making high quality cases for camera and computer equipment for some time now. We have seen evidence of Booq’s high quality and functionality when we reviewed their Python XL Backpack case. Unlike the Booq backpack, the $215 Boa Laptop case is much more conservative case looking more like a traditional laptop carrier. For this price, the Boa has to be special.
Booq calls the Boa “A travel bag designed especially for frequently-traveling professionals.” This bag has about 2,000 pockets and zippers to store all your favorite gear and gadgets. Actually, we counted 9 zippered pockets, 3 magnetic pockets, with 4 large compartments for your precious cargo.
As with the Python backpack, the quality and craftsmanship is really apparent when you see this case. The outer material is made of water-repelling nylon that will keep the moisture out. The zippers that secure the exterior of the case are made of heavy duty metal that make it very difficult to snap off.
Inside the Booq Boa, the laptop is housed in its own separate compartment that is lined with protective foam covered in very soft upholstery. The Booq engineers did a great job in form fitting this area so that there is hardly any movement of the computer. This helps minimizes jarring and surface damage to the machine. The accessory compartments inside all seem to be the perfect size for any extra cables or equipment that you might have. Booq also included a headset “pass-thru” on one of the side pockets. This allows you place your favorite media player in the pocket and have the cable to your headset feed straight out with a little less clutter.
