We had an unannounced surprise by the time we got over to the Intel booth. Even though all the gamers were crowding Intel’s marketing team looking to compete in Intel’s latest giveaway, tucked away in one corner of the booth was an Intel Core i5 Processor running on an ASUS board!

Here we see that the Intel Core i5 is being run with an Asus/Republic of Gamers Motherboard. Like I said, there was really no one around to take this in as everyone was looking to play World of Warcraft – Cataclysm. No one wanted to speak to us on the record so we got as many shots as we could before getting the ‘evil eye’.

One of the advantages to attending a BlizzCon event is that you get to not only see the next generation of games, but you can sit down with the latest and greatest hardware to run the games.

Here was a typical system that Intel had in their booth running World of Warcraft. It is an Core i7 running with 6 GB of triple-channel RAM. It looks to be running on a ASUS motherboard with ASUS 3-Way SLI.

We couldn’t open the case, but the DIMMs look to have that Kingston HyperX blue color. Very cool that you can see the “Extreeme Overclocking” buttons and switches on the motherboard in the lower right-hand corner. This is truely a gamers rig.
