Bethesda Job Listing Tips Development on AAA Freemium Game

Bethesda has had some incredible success with games in its time with blockbuster games under its name including Elder Scrolls and the Fallout franchise. A new job posting at the game studio has tipped that the company is working on a new video game that will be a AAA freemium title. The job listing in question is for a Game Performance Manager.

Gamepur reports that the listing isn’t related to any mobile games in the pipeline because there is no mention of the job being for a mobile game in the description. The last time Bethesda hired for a mobile game position the description said mobile game right in it.

The company also specifically says that the person hired needs to have at least 5 years of experience supporting AAA games. I wouldn’t go so far as to guarantee that the job listing is for a AAA title, but it sure sounds like it.

This particular job is for the Montreal team. Bethesda has said in the past that it has two full-scale games in the pipeline before it launches Elder Scrolls 6 at some point in the future. For now we have no idea if this will be the start of a new game franchise or not. I’m not sure how I feel about a AAA freemium game. It bothers me when you end up having to spend big money on in-game purchases to play a game, but as long as the money you have to spend doesn’t go over the $60 purchase price of a new game maybe it’s a wash.
