AT&T Cellular Service Outage in St. Louis, Rolla and Columbia

If you live around St. Louis in Missouri and have AT&T as your mobile carrier you might have noticed that you don’t have any data or voice service today. Impacted areas include Wentzville, Clayton, Lake St. Louis, St. Peters and O’Fallon. We noticed the issue when we went to lunch as some metro areas are working and others are not. There are also reports of service disruptions near Fort Leonard Wood, Rolla and Columbia, MO. You can view an outage map with LIVE updates here courtesy of Down Detector.

AT&T Missouri Outage

We reached out to our local AT&T representative and discovered that the outage issue is related to an electrical fire. AT&T is aware of the outage and is currently working on restoring service to the impacted areas.

“Due to power outages caused by an electrical fire, another provider is experiencing issues with wireless services that is also impacting AT&T customers. Technicians are on-site and working as quickly as possible to resolve the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Is 9-1-1 impacted? No, 9-1-1 agencies in the St. Louis area are not impacted.” – AT&T

It is unknown when the outage will be repaired, but service has been down or spotty in the impacted areas since this morning.

UPDATE 5PM CT: Here is a status update on repairs after the fire and power outage in downtown St. Louis.

“Crews for a local access provider are working to repair their damaged fiber cables that serve area cell sites. Due to the damaged cables, some of our customers in the St. Charles and Warren County areas may be experiencing wireless service issues. Our engineers are coordinating with the local service provider to help expedite repair efforts and well continue to closely monitor the situation until its fully resolved. We apologize for this inconvenience” – AT&T

UPDATE 06-17-2016 @ 7:30AM:

“Crews for a local access provider have repaired their damaged fiber cables that serve area cell sites and wireless services are currently running normally in the St. Charles and Warren County areas. We apologize for this inconvenience.” – AT&T
