Radeon HD 2600 XT

OCZ 8800 GTX

The HD 2600 XT has a similar heatsink, size, and layout to the X1900 Pro, although the flames on the heatsink are new! One welcome change is that the 2600 XT does not require a PCI-E connector. You can find the 256MB HD 2600 XT priced around $108. At 800 MHz the core speed of the 2600 XT is one of the highest we’ve seen yet out of a video card, this is one of the great advantages to the 65nm process. The memory speed clocks on the 2600 XT are 800MHz for the GDDR3 models and 1100MHz for the GDDR4 variant. Our card is the GDDR4 model.

On the backside of our card you may notice there are no memory ICs. Since this is a 256MB card all of the memory is under the large heatsink on the front of the card. However you can see the array of pins on the board which will allow manufacturers to offer cards with 512MB.
