By

Asustek Computer and Micro-Star International (MSI) saw motherboard shipments rise 15% and 23.5%, respectively, on-month in August, whereas Gigabyte Technology managed only a single-digit sequential growth in shipments in the same month. Meanwhile, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) saw its August shipments were almost similar to the previous month. As long we are steady or seeing growth in the PC industry I’m happy as Vista isn’t even out yet!

The Taiwan-based leading motherboard makers shipped a combined 9.9 million motherboards in August, up 10.9% from 893 million units in August 2005 and 12.4% from 881 million units in the previous month, according to the companies. ECS posted an on-month rise of 0.76% in consolidated revenues in August, while the company’s motherboard shipments remained flat sequentially.
