ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI to unveil X399 motherboards on July 25

By

On Tuesday, July 25 at 10AM EST, AMD will be hosting a Meet The Experts webinar in order to demonstrate their upcoming ThreadRipper processor and accompanying motherboards. This particular webinar will offer detailed information on upcoming X399 motherboards to be released from various manufacturers, including Asus and Gigabyte. X399 will be the primary chipset for the upcoming ThreadRipper platform from AMD, which will support Quad Channel DDR4 and 64 PCI-E lanes.

Perhaps a preview of what we will see during the webiner, the Asus Zenith Extreme X399 is one of the first X399 boards to be introduced from Asus. Interestingly, this board lacks some of the features we’ve seen in other X399 boards, such as multiple M2 slots that can take advantage of the massive amount of PCI-E bandwidth that ThreadRipper will be able to provide, but it isn’t lacking on style or apparent build quality. Since X399 will fit a similar market as X299, a lot of the board designs are similar between X299 and X399 boards, which is to be expected. One thing is for certain, though, AMD is once again a player in the enthusiast segment and ThreadRipper, with its aggressive pricing versus Intel counterparts, has us all very excited. Will you be building a ThreadRipper system? It’s definitely in consideration for Christmas this year in my household.
