Mathmatic Tests
Here I tested sheer computational power with wPrime and Super Pi. These tests are as synthetic as it gets but are quite important to the overclocking community. SuperPi is a single-threaded application that calculates Pi to a certain number of digits while wPrime calculates the square-root of a number and splits the workload amongst all available cores.
Not surprisingly, the X58 equipped system does much better than the X48 system due to the processors utilized. The interesting bit was the Super Pi test. Even though the QX9650 has a 12% speed advantage, the massive amount of available bandwidth to the Core i7 X58 let it pull ahead. wPrime was a given with the Core i7 rig have double the amount of available threads.
