The Albatron 8800GTS-512X Video Card

Albatron GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card - 8800GTS-512X

Albatron announced the 8800GTS-512X on December 12th as the new “Enthusiast” GeForce 8 Series video card that will give top-of-the-line cards something to take notice of because the aggressive pricing that the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB comes with. Albatron isn't as big as they used to be here in North America, but they are still around and the GeForce 8800GTS-512X video card is proof that Albatron is alive and well.

Albatron uses the reference PCB design and cooling solution just like the other cards in the roundup, so nothing fun to see by just looking at the 8800GTS-512X.

The clock frequencies on the reference GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB cards are 650MHz/1940MHz with a shader clock of 1625MHz.  As you can see from the GPU-Z utility above, Albatron kept things stock on the  8800GTS-512X.  It should also be pointed out that Albatron was using the newest BIOS of the bunch with version 62.92.16.00.43 being on the card right out of the box.

Inside the box one will find the expected bundle that comes with all brands of video cards. The bundle included with the Albatron 8800GTS-512X has two DVI-to-VGA adapters, 4-pin molex to 6-pin PCIe power adapter, RCA video cable, S-Video cable the HDTV dongle and installation instructions.  The driver disc included NVIDIA Forceware driver version 169.06 along with some other general utilities (Adobe Acrobat Reader & DirectX updates) and the GeForce series manual. The only thing the Albatron bundle is that it is lacking is a game title, which is a must for a video card that retails for more than $349.99.
