Overclocking Results

Quite honestly, we were just a little disappointed with the way that the board overclocked.  We were not expecting uber-overclock levels, but we did expect better than what we got.  What made it more disappointing is that we tried to contact ECS to get at least a confirmation of the issues, or a new bios that would give us what we were missing, and after nearly 3 weeks and several emails, we have heard nothing.  Our issue basically was the fact that we did not have the option for a CPU multiplier adjustment.  Now this is not new, as the Foxconn board that we reviewed has the same issue, but our overclocking on that board was much easier, and we did reach very acceptable levels. This ECS PN1 SLI2 is labeled as an Extreme board, and we wanted the opportunity to try that out.  So, as you look at our results, realize that thie board may have been able to do better fsb, but we cannot say for sure, due to  the options available in the bios.

<Start rant> Maybe it is just me, but i am getting a little tired of the lack of time spent on preparing a bios that works properly right out of the box.  These boards are either NOT ready, or they are being shoved out the door to get the on the market before the bios team is ready.

As you can see, we were able to get to a fsb of 326, which is not very good considering the previous levels we were able to reach with this same CPU. This is certainly not terrible if you are not an overclocker, or are just gonna run a slight overclock, but if YOU are Extreme, you need to know that this board is NOT!

Let's wrap this up.
