abit AW9D-MAX i975 Express Motherboard Review

When it came to overclocking the abit AW9D-Max motherboard it turned out to be a really fun time as overclocking was found to be easy and the results were impressive. Using the Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor we left the multiplier at seven and cranked up the front side bus (FSB) to the point the system was unstable. Our litttle E6300 started life out at 1.86GHz, but after increasing the voltage up to 1.55V and using the Corsair Nautilus 500 water cooler we were able to hit 3.15GHz on the very same chip. This is more than a 1GHz overclock as we managed to get an extra 1290MHz from the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 with just a few BIOS adjustments.
While the platform would run benchmarks it was unable to run multiple applications at once when set to 450MHz FSB. By backing down the FSB just a little to 440MHz it was rock solid and ran for a month crash free when left at these settings.
Many overclockers and enthusiasts like to see double super pi results to be sure a system is stable and that's just want we did. Leaving the system at 440MHz FSB we ran two 32M runs of super pi at the same time and neither had any errors and completed the calculations just fine. When the dust settled the abit AW9D-MAX overclocked our E6300 higher with full stability than any other motherboard previously used. Overclocking the front side bus from 266MHz to 440Mhz is no small feat and the abit AW9D-MAX motherboard passed overclocking with flying colors and left a smile on our face for days.
