Dramatic storyline, pulse-pounding action, incredible graphics, and revolutionary technology combine to draw you into the most frightening and gripping first person gaming experience ever created. The Doom 3 engine is a computer game engine developed by id Software and first used in the PC game Doom 3. The engine was designed by John Carmack, who also created previous engines such as those for Doom and Quake. The DOOM 3 engine added several new features absent in the Quake III engine that preceded it. New features for DOOM 3 included bump mapping, normal mapping, and specular highlighting.

With the resolution set to 1024x768 and the image quality set to high we found that the memory frequency played a key role in gaming performance.  The processor frequency remained the same and so did the memory timings, so the only change was the memory divider.  By selecting the 200MHz memory option in the DFI BIOS we ended up with the memory running 554MHz, which was good for 139.9 frames per second in DOOM 3.  By changing the memory divider we found that performance got better.  We saw a 42.6 frame per second increase by just changing the memory divider which in turn changed the clock speed the memory ran at.
