Corsair XMS 3200XL Testing!
Our Test System:
- Intel Pentium 4 3.2C 800MHz FSB (Intel ES unlocked Sample)
- Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Canterwood Motherboard
- nVidia 5900 Ultra 256mb (nVidia reference)
- Corsair HydroCool 200ex (Water Cooled)
- Seagate 120Gb Serial ATA 150 Hard drive
- Antec True Power 430W Power Supply
- 17" Sony Trinitron monitor
Note that in the above CPU-Z shots that the Performance Acceleration Mode in the ASUS BIOS could be enabled at both frequencies with these tight timings! Not all modules are able to run with the performance mode enabled at any speed or latency! Being able to run with performance mode enabled does make an huge impact on memory bandwidth performance!
DDR400 (2-2-2-5: 1T) Memory Bandwidth Results:
It's been quit some time that I've been able to run at 2-2-2 timings, but indeed they are back! Performance is right on par with the "old" low latency modules that we saw in production last year!
DDR500 (2.5-3-3-6: 1T) Memory Bandwidth Results:
I've never seen any PC-3200 memory module be able to reach frequencies this high with timings this tight! Breaking 6,000 MB/s is an awesome feat and was done at only 2.75V on our ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe motherboard.
These modules are really impressive and in terms of memory launches this is by far the most exciting new memory product that I have seen so far in 2004! While it's too soon to come to an overall conclusion on these modules, so far they are looking great on the test bench across all platforms. Expect a full review from Legit Reviews later this week showing how these modules perform against the other name brands and where you can get them. We have been told by the marketing department at Corsair that they are building and shipping the new Corsair XMS XL modules to retailers and they should be in stock and for sale next week!
Time to get back to the test bench and get back to work! Just wanted to throw something quick up for all you enthusiasts!
