Tests were performed using the default ?demo1?. Options were set to High Quality. Scores represented as average frames per second.
At 1280x1024 we see that we are running up against CPU limitations with the Crossfire and SLI systems. Even at 1600x1200 we see the CPU holding our systems back a bit. 7800GT SLI holds a slight performance advantage over X1800XL.
Once AA and AF are turned up we no longer see the CPU as a bottleneck. Remember that when actually playing Doom 3 that the game is capped at 60fps. With this in mind you can see that X1800XT in Crossfire would be very playable at 8xAA/16x High Quality AF. Also notice how the 7800GT SLI is now slightly behind X1800XL Crossfire. Since this is Doom 3 where NVIDIA ususally dominates could this be a trend?
