Serious Sam 2

Sam is back and as witty as ever. Serious Sam 2 can bring any current video card to its knees when you start turning things up. With all the bad guys coming after you it?s easy to miss out on all the eye candy the gang over at Croteam put into this excellent game.

We ran one of pre-recorded demos for our tests. Tests were run at Maximum detail except for the 6200 and X1300 Pro which were run at Medium. This is the only game in our review today that features HDR. While I would have loved to have given you some HDR numbers, ATI and Sam currently aren?t working well together so look for those numbers to come from a future article. The first Serious Sam 2 patch is coming within two weeks and the ATI HDR fix is listed among many others in the change log.

Here we see the 7800GTX jump out to a lead at lower resolutions only to be passed on the high side by the X1800XT. Once again we see the X1800XL put up slightly slower numbers than the X850XT PE without AA, and slightly faster numbers against it with AA enabled. The X1600XT ends up surprisingly close to the 6800GT

The X1300 Pro and 6200TC play this game well at 1024x768 unless you enable AA where it takes a big hit.
