Intel X79 SATA III 6Gbps Performance
CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. This can skew some results in favor of controllers that also do not support NCQ.
The SATA III 6Gbps Testing was done using a Corsair Force GT 240GB Solid State Drive.
Benchmark Results: The ASRock X79 Extreme9 SATA III 6Gbps was slightly below what we have seen recently. The sequential read of the ASRock X79 Extreme9 in CrystalDiskMark was 485.2MB/s which was slower than all of our other Intel X79 motherboards. The sequential write wasn't far off, but it was still slower than the others. With only a 302.8MB/s write speed it was 3.2MB/s slower than our fastest board.
HD Tune Pro 4.01 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.

Benchmark Results: The ASRock X79 Extreme9 performance improved in HD Tune, at least slightly. The ASRock X79 Extreme9 hit an average read rate of 497.1MB/s which is 9MB/s behind the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme which holds the top spot. The average write speed of the ASRock X79 Extreme9 came in at 463.9MB/s which is 11.8MB/s behind the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme.
