LG has teamed up with VMWare to create an Android phone that also runs virtualization. The Verizon phone is expected to be available in the coming months. Tonight LG was showing off the VMWare while it was running on a Verizon Revolution. Above you can see the phone running the VMWare with all of the work data on it. If you hit the shortcut on the desktop that you see above that reads Personal (see below).
You are quickly switched over to your personal profile and all of your Android Apps. To get back to the work phone, just hit the 'Work Phone' and your back to it.
We all know USB 3.0 is extremely fast for transferring data, that's not all that it can be used for any more though. At CES Unveiled we were able to witness a monitor running a resolution of 2560x1600 running through SuperSpeed USB 3.0. Tonight we saw a displaylink prototype adapter that converted the signal from a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port to a video signal. Just below the monitor you can see a MSI notebook that is supplying the signal to the adapter via USB 3.0!
Above we can see the adapter up close and personal. It's clearly a prototype meant for display, we have some time before this is ready for production.Though it's something to look forward to for those looking to run a high resolution monitor from a notebook or ultrabook.
Samsung's just unveiled two WiFi surveillance cameras. Both can easily be paired with routers that support WPS and offer remote tracking. The video outputting 640 x 480 at 30fps and encoded in H.264. The footage recorded can be automatically uploaded to youtube depending on the settings. Want to monitor your house in utter darkness? The Samsung WiFi SmartCams will get the shot thanks to built in infrared capabilities.
The Samsung inTouch is a WiFi camera for your TV with HDMI as well as a 3 megapixel camera. The combination of which enables apps like Skype, YouTube, and a web browser to be displayed right on your TV. The Samsung intouch is controlled by a QWERTY remote, come March it'll be yours for $199. For those that are curious about the inner working it will be running a slimmed down version of Android 2.3 operating system.
OWC (Other World Computing) was on hand showing off several products, the coolest and most unusual one they had on hand was a wall outlet with a pair of USB charging ports. Typically you have a little bit power draw from the USB ports, though on OWC's version you don't. When shut the doors to the USB ports it cuts the power draw completely eliminating any wasted power!
