Seagate Momentus XT - Media and Info
Seagate gave us a ton of information in the form of videos (one of which is on the first page of this article) and some slides with various info. There wasn't room to put everything in the body of the article for our normal pages so we created a page where we could showcase the media and information.
The first video shows a comparison of the Momentus XT 750GB versus a 7200 RPM hard drive and Intel SSD on the Dell 15Z. Obviously, this is after the Momentus XT had run this a few times to cache the data on the SSD portion of the drive.
The second shows a similar comparison but this time on a MacBook Pro running a 5400 RPM hard drive and also running the XT drive. This shows how the performance can be increased on any platform, regardless of operating system so Linux and Mac users can get in on the action.
Finally, a mini history lesson with the timeline of the hybrid drive history with the little known fact that Seagate created the first hybrid drive back in 2007 with their Momentus PSD drive. It also outlines the evolution of the technologies and features of successive generations. OK, now we can have a closer look at the drive itself.
