SATA 6Gbps Performance Testing
CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for drives and enables rapid measurement of sequential and random read/write speeds. Note that CDM only supports Native Command Queuing (NCQ) with a queue depth of 32 (as noted) for the last listed benchmark score. This can skew some results in favor of controllers that also do not support NCQ.

The SATA6 Testing was done using OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SATA6 SSD drive.

Benchmark Results: In CrystalDiskMark the GIGABYTE G1 Sniper 2 was able to average 497.4MB/s sequential read and 174.9MB/s sequential write. This is on par with the ASUS ROG Maximus IV Gene-Z and just below the performance of the ASUS ROG Maximus IV Extreme-Z. The 4K read speeds of the G1 Sniper 2 were slightly faster than what we have previously seen, the 4K write speeds were nearly 7MB/s faster than the Maximus IV Extreme-Z and ~13MB/s faster than the Gene-Z.
HD Tune Pro 4.01 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.

Benchmark Results: In HD Tune the GIGABYTE G1 Sniper 2 was able to take the top spot for the average read with a read rate of 514.1MB/s, our next fastest board was the ASUS ROG Maximus IV Extreme-Z with 511.6MB/s. The ASUS boards were able to dominate the Average Write speeds, the Maximus IV Extreme-Z was able to average 448.8MB/s while the top honors go to the Gene-Z with 450.3MB/s.
