The Test System

The test system we used for the ASUS GTX 560 DirectCU II Top card has seen a few upgrades since the last hardware that tried to prove itself.  We are still running an Intel i5-2500k  'Sandy Bridge' quad core processor running at stock 3.3 GHz, 4 GB of Corsair Dominator 1600 MHz memory, 700 Watt OCZ PSU, and a Seagate 7200 RPM 500 GB hard disk.  The first upgrade to the test bench was the addition of an OCZ 100GB Vertex Limited Edition SATA II SSD drive to run Window 7 Professional 64-Bit  SP1 with all the updates.

The second and more significant upgrade was the addition of a Dell U3011 30" flat panel display to really see what this ASUS card can do at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

We also used a NVIDIA reference GeForce GTX 560 as a comparison in all the benchmarks so you could see what the extra 15% overclock provided.

Both cards were tested using the latest Forceware 280.26 WHQL drivers that were just released on August 9th and provides many new fixes.

The ASUS GTX 560 DirectCU II Top also had the bios flashed to the new 560 5.26.2011 update that ASUS said improved both the performance of the card and adds a better fan profile to provide a better balance between cooling and noise.
