ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional Motherboard Review

NVIDIA SLI Performance Scaling
Since the release of the Intel P67 chipset, we decided to change a few things up in our testing. The next two pages are all about the scaling of multiple GPU's in our systems. First off, we are going to test how well the P67 chipset scales multiple NVIDIA cards. In order to do this we contacted our friends over at GALAXY and they were kind enough to send over a pair of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 1Gb graphics cards that are available in a two card SLI kit.
The ASRock Fatal1ty Professional P67 Motherboard had the highest single card performance in Aliens Vs. Predator at 1280x1024 and was tied for the top single card spot at 1920x1080. Once we threw in the second Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 the performance continues. At 1280x1024 the Fatal1ty Professional jumped from 52.3 frames per second to 103.5 frames per second. That is a performance increase of 97.9%. Cranking the resolution up to 1920x1080 the frame rate jumped from 39 frames per second to 76.4 frames per second for an increase of 95.9%.
The ASRock Fatal1ty Professional motherboard fell to the middle of the pack in Metro 2033. At 1280x1024 the Fatal1ty Professional motherboard started out with a single card performance of 27.62 frames per second. Once we added the second Galaxy NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 in SLI we saw the performance jump by 70% up to 46.96 frames per second. Cranking up the resolution to 1920x1080 we saw a gain of 69.4%, from 19.32 frames per second up to 32.73 frames per second.
In S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat the ASRock Fatal1ty Professional performance with a single Galaxy GeForce GTX 460 was right on par with the other Intel P67 motherboards we have looked at. The SLI performance did loose a little bit of ground though. At 1280x1024 the Fatal1ty has a single card perfromance of 85.4 frames per second while the SLI performance averaged 143.3 frames per second. The SLI performance at the lower resolution was 5.3 frames per second behind the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe average of 148.6 frames per second. Increasing the resolution to 1920x1080 the Fatal1ty was able to close the gap between the top spot. In the single Galaxy GeForce GTX 460 configuration the Fatal1ty Professional averaged 58.4 frames per second while in SLI we saw an average of 106.9 frames per second.
