BAPCo SYSmark 2004
BAPCo is very much a standard benchmark for motherboards and overall application performance because it uses real applications like Adobe Photoshop 7.01, Discreet 3ds max 5.1, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, and more for Internet Content Creation and Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5, Microsoft Office 2002, McAfee VirusScan 7.0, and more for Office Productivity. BAPCo scores both of those categories as well as gives a system rating score which is widely used to provide an industry-accepted application performance comparison across systems.
This page presents data pertaining to a set of CPU benchmark tests we have performed for the STARS CFD solver. The benchmarks are intended to provide information about the relative speed of different processor, operating system, and compiler combinations that might be used with the STARS CFD solver. The idea is to run the same CFD testcase on different machines in order to see how that machine performs.
SuperPI is a pretty self-titling benchmark. It calculates PI to a set number of significant digits. We chose to calculate PI to the nearest 2 Million and 4 Million digits.
Professional Benchmark Results
The main professional benchmark here is BAPCo. BAPCo give a 1 point higher rating in all categories to the Intel i915 reference board. This is not too surprising to me given all the extra features that add a little distance here and there for the data to travel through. Now it is only a one point difference, which is very much worth it for WiFi, 3 RAID implementations, and 8-channel audio.
CASELab STARS and SuperPI both measure CPU power by reporting the amount of time it takes to complete the given calculations. The result of these benchmarks show the P5GD2 Premium dead even to the Intel reference board.
