AMD CrossFireX Performance Scaling

As with the previous page where we tested the NVIDIA SLI scaling between the chipsets, we want to do the same for the AMD CrossfireX. When we decided to run this series of tests, we were able to get in touch with our friends over at XFX and they kindly sent over a pair of XFX Radeon HD 6950's.

The ASUS P8Z68-V Pro was able to edge out the GIGABYTE P67A-UD7 in Aliens Vs. Predator. At 1280x1024 both systems averaged 56.1 frames per second. Once we threw in the second XFX Radeon HD 6950 the ASUS P8Z68 managed to pull away with an average of 110.8 frames per second compared to the GIGABYTE P67A-UD7's 104.2 frames per second. That is a difference of 6.3%. 1920x1080 is a very similar story, though the single card performance of the P8Z68-V Pro was 6.4% higher than the P67A-UD7 while the Crossfire performance was 5.1% higher.

In Metro 2033 the ASUS P8Z68-V-Pro was once again able to edge out the P67A-UD7 at all resolutions. At 1280x1024 we saw a 5.1% difference in single card and 13.5% difference in Crossfire! At 1920x1080 we saw a difference in the single card configuration of 5.8% while Crossfire showed a difference of 7.8% in the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro's favor.

In S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro continued to reign supreme over the P67A-UD7. At 1280x1024 we can see a difference of 2.1% when running a single XFX Radeon HD 6950. Tossing in the second XFX Radeon HD 6950 we saw the difference in performance jump to 7.7%. Increasing the resolution to 1920x1080 the performance difference was 1.1% with a single XFX Radeon HD 6950 while the Crossfire configuration yielded a difference of 5.1%.
