If Something Goes Wrong
If after attempting to upgrade to the 6970 BIOS the card does not work you have several options depending on the state the card is in. The simplest option if the card boots but does not show the correct shaders and/or other info, flash the card back to the stock BIOS backup you created (you DID create a back-up as instructed, didn’t you?). Another option is to attempt to flash the BIOS to another 6970 BIOS more suited for the card.
If the card does not boot at all you can revert to AMD’s new onboard BIOS backup.

- Find the BIOS switch and toggle it to the position closest to the Crossfire connector. If for some reason it is already at this position, try toggling it away.
- Restart the computer. The card should now boot without problems.
- *** Before flashing *** Toggle the BIOS switch on the card back to its original position.
- Flash your stock BIOS to the card using RBE.
- Reboot when prompted.
AMD adding the dual BIOS feature makes recovery much easier from the worst of situations. Hopefully they continue to include this wonderful feature in future products.
