BIOSTAR TP67XE AMD CrossFireX Scaling

As with the previous page where we tested the NVIDIA SLI scaling between the chipsets, we want to do the same for the AMD CrossfireX. When we decided to run this series of tests, we were able to get in touch with our friends over at XFX and they kindly sent over a pair of XFX Radeon HD 6950's.

The BIOSTAR TP67XE may not have had the fastest performance in Aliens Vs. Predator, but it was only 4.6% behind the top board at 1280x1024 and 2.7% behind at 1920x1080. When we look at the scaling performance without XFX Radeon HD 67950 on the BIOSTAR TP67XE in Aliens Vs. Predator, the BIOSTAR TP67XE is second only to the GIGABYTE P67A-UD4. The GIGABYTE board saw a boost of 99% at 1920x1080 while the BIOSTAR TP67XE saw an increase of 97%.

Metro 2033 doesn't scale quite as well as one would hope, at least not in CrossfireX. At the resolution of 1280x1024 the BIOSTAR TP67XE saw an increase of 33.1% and at 1920x1080 we saw a gain of 47%. Both of these gains are similar to what we have seen in the past. However, the performance at 1920x1080 didn't place the BIOSTAR TP67XE quite as high in the charts as the performance at 1280x1024.

In S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat the BIOSTAR TP67XE was able to bring the top performance of all of our systems at 1280x1024. The 1280x1024 performance of the BIOSTAR TP67XE started out at 107.5 frames per second; tossing in the second XFX Radeon HD 6950, we averaged 165.6 frames per second. That is a gain of 54%. Increasing the resolution to 1920x1080 we started out at 75.7 frames per second; with the system running in CrossfireX our frames per second increased to 123.9 for a gain of 63.7%. At 1280x1024 the MSI P67A-GD65 saw a gain of 53.3% and 66.6% at 1920x1080.
