FyreTV BoXXX - Money Shot
We were very impressed by the number of different ways you could call up content with FyreTV BoXXX. I’m actually surprised we don’t see more of this type of business model with mainstream media streamers. The FyreTV BoXXX has some great ideas to deliver content, but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised since the “Adult Entertainment” industry has been ahead of the technology curve for some time. Whether it was for mass marketing of content, the push to move to DVDs from VHS, or 3D high-definition content, the Adult Entertainment industry has always been on the forefront of using new technology to deliver their content.
FyreTV has delivered a solid standard definition set top box media streamer. We are not fans of the remote control that FyreTV has included, but it seems to get the job done. Basic navigation is quick and responsive and we experienced no real delays in content loading or playing. I was amazed at just how much content was available – remember, it has over 20,000 movie titles containing over 120,000 searchable movie scenes from over 100 of the biggest adult studios.
Because the library of content is so big, the built-in search filters that FyreTV BoXXX has makes finding for your
favorite content or genre much easier. You can search for genre, actor, or movie
studio right inside the user’s GUI. You can even sort by "Best Rated" and see what your fellow BoXXX viewers think is the best movie, scene, and publishing house.
Again, great ideas that mainstream media players seem to be lacking.
Once we got the content to our screen however, we weren’t exactly
overwhelmed with the picture quality. At a maximum of 480i resolution,
we were seeing the best the BoXXX could produce, but it was nowhere near
high-definition. It might take you some time to get used to watching
your adult content on a big screen television. But for those who worry
about leaving the DVD in the player or box cover out when grandma comes
over to visit, having all the content available for instant streaming is
a huge plus.
Protecting your content from curious eyes is something that FyreTV takes
very seriously and the 6-digit lock to access content is great selling
point. The lock is designed to restrict any access to media player. In
fact, you can’t even access the start screen let alone any content that
should make it relatively safe for a home situation. You can adjust the
lockout time as well, just in case you walk away for an extended time.
Mainstream players don’t allow you to look up your favorite actor and then instantly view the movie scenes they were a part of.
To get your search started you can head over to the FyreTV website and you can view the various titles and scenes.
If you are looking at one of these media players but aren’t too sure
whether you want to buy one, you can rent a FyreTV BoXXX for $9.95 a
month (based on 12 month contract) and you will get 100 "anytime"
minutes. You can always purchase additional minutes if you go over your
quota. FyreTV even recognizes unused minutes and has allows "rollover". Of course you can buy the BoXXX outright for $89.95 from
FyreTV and then choose a subscription package. Most subscription packages are around $29.95 per month for the big studios like Vivid, Wicked and Adam & Eve. The smaller studios can be found for $9.95 to $19.95 per month. We noticed that some major studios like Digital Playground are not offered by FyreTV, so if you are a wanting to stream those movies discreetly, take note that they are not available.
At this point, however, we would advise someone who is looking at this
media streamer to hold off on purchasing the BoXXX since there is a
High-Definition player that is being released by FyreTV within the next few
months. We had hoped that the standard-definition BoXXX was going to
have a firmware upgrade to allow for high-definition content, but
FyreTV says that there are no plans to do that.
It looks like the best thing to do is go with one of the "rental"
programs and then wait for the high-definition media player to be
released from FyreTV.
Legit Bottom Line: The FyreTV BoXXX is one of the most unique media streamers on the market today. The BoXXX streams your favorite adult content to your big screen TV and utilizes a powerful and effective streaming system that mainstream manufacturers would be smart to emulate.
