Blu-Ray Playback

Unfortunately I am not equipped to enable 3D playback with Blu-Ray movies as I don’t have the set up for it. We do know the GeForce GT 430 GPU itself is indeed capable of Blu-Ray 3D playback as we reviewed the ASUS GeForce GT 430 GPU back in October of 2010, so there are no questions about 3D playback with the AXLE GeForce GT 430.

I did pop in the newer Star Trek Blu-Ray to see if there were any differences between the AXLE GeForce GT 430 and the ASUS GeForce 9600 GSO regarding performance using PowerDVD 10 Ultra. As far as image quality goes, I saw no noticeable difference between the two GPUs.

Using the Legit Reviews Test System with both GPUs, we saw that the average CPU load never went higher than 7%. Playing the movie, the GPU load was about 8% on the GeForce GT 430 while the 9600 GSO was 7% under load. This seems about right as both GPU's use similar video processing methods. The ASUS GeForce 9600 GSO uses VP2 where the AXLE GT 430 uses VP4. You can get a more detailed explanation between the two at Wikipedia.
