ATTO & AS-SSD Synthetic Benches
ATTO is one of the oldest drive benchmarks still being used today and is still very relevant in the SSD world. ATTO measures transfers across a specific volume length. It measures raw transfer rates for both reads and writes and places the data into graphs that can be very easily interpreted. The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes with the total length being 256mb.
Benchmark Results: If you follow SSD performance benchmarks at all, this ATTO result should look funny to you. The LSI WarpDrive appears to choke majorly on the 128k and 256k read/writes. LSI is aware of this and will address it with their next firmware release although we aren't exactly sure when that may be. Overall, the performance we saw on this benchmark was less than the OCZ RevoDrive X2. Interesting results to say the least.
We have been running the AS-SSD Benchmark app for over a year now and found that it gives a broad result set. Many testers are using the 4k file size read/write results for the IO Meter benchmark which is an old tool and the AS-SSD benchmark essentially shows the same metric in its results set. The programmer worked very hard on this software and continues to make updates often so if you use it, show him some love.
Benchmark Results: The more astute readers will notice the lack of a value in the read access time. This happened every time we ran the benchmark and probably represents a time so low, it cannot be accurately measured. Then again, it could be an error in the software. Either way, access times are so fast they are practically irrelevant. The WarpDrive posted the best overall score we've ever seen for this benchmark.
