Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom. Resident Evil 5 features similar gameplay to Resident Evil 4, with context-sensitive controls and dynamic cut scenes also making a return. The player can control Chris Redfield or Sheva Alomar in a similar fashion to Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 4, with the same over-the-shoulder perspective.

We ran the Resident Evil 5 benchmark in DX10 mode with all the image quality settings turned down.

Resident Evil 5

This game title runs on up to four threads as you can see from the task manager shot above that was taken on the test system that was running the Intel Core i7-2820QM processor.

Resident Evil 5 Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: The Acer 7551G laptop uses the AMD Phenom II X4 N930 quad-core processor, but it also has an AMD Radeon HD 5650 discrete mobile graphics card inside. For the first time in this review we see the AMD system take the lead, but it should since it has discrete graphics inside. The Compal test system with the Intel Sandy Bridge CPU inside did very well with Resident Evil 5 and had an average frames per second count of 35.7 at 1280x720. This was more than twice as fast as the Intel Core i5-540 CPU and five times faster on the Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor!  Intel has done amazing things with video/gaming capabilities over the past several generations and the fact you can play game titles like this without discrete graphics is impressive.
