SATA6 Performance Testing
HD Tach is a low level hardware benchmark for random access read/write storage devices such as hard drives, removable drives (ZIP/JAZZ), flash devices, and RAID arrays. HD Tach uses custom device drivers and other low level Windows interfaces to bypass as many layers of software as possible and get as close to the physical performance of the device possible.

The SATA6 Testing was done using Western Digital 1Tb Black Edition SATA6 hard drive.

Benchmark Results: It seems that an average read rate of 109.1MB/s is the limit of the Western Digital 1TB Black Edition as all of our boards have seemed to max out at that speed. Write speeds, however, do show us a few variances. The top dog for the write speeds in HD Tach was the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe which was 2.3MB/s faster than the ASUS P8P67. When it comes to the burst speeds the tables are turned and the ASUS P8P67 was 18.7% faster than the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe.
HD Tune Pro 4.01 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.

Testing of the USB3 was done using the SUNBEAMTECH Airbox USB3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure. The hard drive used was a Western Digital 640Gb Black Edition Hard drive.

Benchmark Results: The average read and average write speeds of the ASUS boards were spot on with each other. The burst speeds did vary, though it was by a margin of only 1.5% on the read burst rate with the ASUS P8P67 beating out the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe and 4.3% on the write burst rate with the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe on top.
