The Legit Reviews Test System
All testing was done on a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with all the latest updates installed. All benchmarks were run on the desktop with no other software running in the background. The Kingston HyperX memory sticks were run in triple-channel mode at 1600 mhz with 9-9-9-27 timings. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 graphics card was run with 260.99 drivers at stock speed. The i7 920 processor was running at the default clock speed of 2.67 ghz with turbo disabled. The GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R motherboard was running the latest BIOS (FC) and was compared to another X58 motherboard, the ASUS Rampage II Extreme. It should be noted that out of the box, the X58A-UD3R review sample we got had issues installing Windows 7 with both the i7 920 and the i7 980x although both are supported from the original BIOS (FA) to the current one. Updating to the latest BIOS (FC) fixed the issue and tests and benchmarks were run with that BIOS (FC).
