The New NVIDIA R260 Series Drivers
With the release of the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 video card comes new drivers for all the NVIDIA 400 series graphics cards. NVIDIA claims that the drivers will boost performance on all GTX 400 series cards, but the feature that many of our readers will like is the new driver installer and improved 3D Vision and Surround settings. Those that run 3D Vision will be happy to know that the 3D Vision Driver now installs with the display driver, so no separate installation is required!
The new release 260 drivers have a one-click express installation option or an advanced custom installation option. Here are some slides from when we first installed NVIDIA Graphics driver version 260.52.
Notice under the custom installation options you can perform a clean installation now, which allows you to wipe out older drivers that are currently on the system.
Once you start to install the driver the process only takes a couple of minutes and feels faster than the previous installer.
You might get some Windows Security windows that pop up, but you can always 'trust' software from NVIDIA to stop seeing this window.
Once the driver install is complete it gives you the option to restart now or later.
Removal from Control Panel brings back the driver installer and it will remove the drivers for you. We tried it on several systems and didn't experience any problems.
