Testing Results

The ASRock 880G Extreme3 motherboard gave us results that we had expected, as performance differences between boards are negligible. The big difference in boards today, the things that separate them, are features and overclocking ability. And most end users do not overclock, so it will be the features on the motherboard that will help a board stand out.
As you look at the performance though, you can see that the ASRock 880G Extreme3 motherboard lagged slightly behind the ECS board. That certainly had to be due to the looser timings that had to be used on the ASRock board. The Cinebench times also reflect the DDR3 timings.
3dMark Vantage was pretty much a split between the two boards, but in our PCMark Vantage testing, the ASRock 880G Extreme3 spreads its wings a bit, and even with looser timings on the DDR3 it outscores the ECS board. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is really too close to call.
Overall these are solid numbers put up by a solid board. But if you think that is solid, just wait until you get to the overclocking results!
