EVGA GeForce GTX 460 768MB Overclocking
The EVGA GeForce GTX 460 768MB video cards start off life at 675MHz on the core clock, 1350MHz on the shaders and 900MHz on the GDDR5 memory. The GeForce GTX 460 has plenty of room left into it for overclocking since it has two 6-pin power connectors on the board. This along with the 75mm cooling fan and 4Gbps memory ICs means that the GeForce GTX 460 has plenty of thermal/power headroom for you to discover by overclocking. We used EVGA Precision to overclock our video card SuperClocked review sample in SLI.
NVIDIA claims the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card is an overclocker's dream, but we will figure that out on our own!
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Video Card Stock 763MHz/3800MHz:
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 Video CardOverclocked 850MHz/3900MHz:
This overclock puts the EVGA GeForce GTX 460 768MB SuperClocked SLI setup ahead of the GeForce GTX480 and the Radeon HD 5970! Not bad for a pair of $219.99 graphics cards. The total investment here in the video cards is $440, which is less than the Radeon HD 5970 and about what you can pick up a GeForce GTX480 for.
We tried out the SLI overclock in AvP and found a nice 7.2% jump in performance at 1920x1200 with all of the graphics settings maxed out. Overclocking the EVGA GeForce GTX 460 768MB cards will bring you significant performance increases as you can see from our overclocked testing.
