Microsoft Xbox Kinect

E3 Microsoft Xbox

We headed over to the Microsoft side of the hall to check out the new Xbox Slim and Kinect.  The new $299 Xbox 360 comes outfitted in a great-looking gloss black color with touch-sensitive buttons.  It now has a new larger fan to go along with the new 45nm processor.  Playing on one I couldn't hear any noise coming from the unit (not that I could hear much else with all the noise around me), but the Microsoft reps are saying that the new Xbox is very quiet and will not bother anyone while viewing movies or playing their favorite games.

The new Xbox comes with a 250GB removable hard drive with WiFi-N and five USB ports so that you can really get your Guitar Hero band going!  I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture below, but there is a new "Kinect Port" on the back as well.

We got to see the Kinect in use and thought it was pretty cool.  Using Kinect is as simple as getting in front of the sensor. It recognizes you, responds to your gestures, and even listens to your voice.  It's designed to work with every Xbox 360 so don't worry about having to upgrade to the latest and greatest console.

We also got to check out Epic's new "Gears of War 3" for the Xbox 360.  This is the conclusion to one of the most widely celebrated titles in Xbox history.  Developed exclusively for Xbox 360, “Gears of War 3” players continue to fight as Marcus Fenix, the leader of Delta Squad. Gears 3 takes place eighteen months after the fall of the last human city in "Gears of War 2,".  The war against the Locust continues, but there is now a new enemy to decide the fate of all humans.

We were even able to get a glimpse of Call of Duty: Black Ops will look like.  Due out in November of 2010, we were able to steal this screenshot to get your mouth drooling. We expect to see some in-game video and more specs as they are made available.
