SiSoft Sandra 2010 Memory Bandwidth

SiSoftware Sandra 2010

The SiSoft Sandra 2010 benchmark utility was released a few weeks ago and we have started to include it in our benchmarking. Sandra 2010 now comes with support for Virtualization (Virtual PC/Server, Hyper-V, VMware) and GPGPU (OpenCL, DirectX 11 Compute Shader/DirectCompute). Today we will be utilizing Sandra 2010 to look at memory bandwidth performance!

SiSoftware Sandra 2010

Benchmark Results: The AMD Athlon II X4 640 fell a little short of the bandwidth of the AMD Athlon II X4 635.  Typically speaking the performance of memory will go up with a faster CPU, though it didn't here. The AMD Athlon II 640 is the C3 revision which is a new revision and the Athlon II X4 635 is a C2 revision. The different revisions are most likely the reason for the slight memory performance loss.
