Tight Timing Testing
Some of our readers might not be impressed with the CL9 timings that this kit is using even though it is as 1.25V. Just for fun we figured out we'd try to see how tight we could get the timings on the Kingston HyperX LoVo memory kit.
We were able to tighten the timings to 8-8-8-24 1T at 1600MHz, but had to bump up the voltage from 1.24V to 1.30V for it to be fully stable. Our Sandra 2010 SP1d memory bandwidth scores went from 20.29GB/s on average to 20.34 by making the timings tighter.
We were able to hit 7-8-7-24 1T timings by again increasing the vDIMM. This time we had to go up to 1.38V for it to be fully benchmark stable. Not bad results for a kit that started out life as a CL9 DDR3 memory kit! We were also able to overclock them up to nearly 2000MHz, but that required more voltage and really isn't the point of this kit!
