Plantronics .Audio 476 DSP Headset In Detail
The Plantronics .Audio 476 DSP headset folds into thirds with the speakers rotating 90 degrees. The microphone boom also rotates up so it is parallel with the headset. This allows the .Audio 476 fold up as compact as possible.
With the folded headset rotated, we can now see the speakers and the foam padding on the speakers. The only hassle with getting this headset compact and ready to be stowed is the long chord. Some sort of permanent chord tie would have been a nice addition in order for the user to easily coil the cord.
Here is the headset completely open and fully extended. I had to have both sides fully extended in order for the headset to comfortably fit on my head. The headset is extremely light-weight and the soft foam cushion on the speakers make for a comfortable fit even for long periods of use.
The microphone boom sticks out a few inches and naturally fits the contour of your face since the headphone speakers are slightly angled to fit your ears once you have the headset on. The noise cancelling feature of the microphone allows this headset to be used in areas with a lot of background noise.
Here is another angle of the headset which shows the outside of the speaker that has the microphone boom attached. We also see that Plantronics wants everyone to know this headset was designed in Santa Cruz, California.
Here we see the next most commonly used feature of this headset; the in-line control. From here you can adjust the volume of the headset as well as mute the microphone. Here we also see the USB 2.0 connector that is the foundation of this plug-and-play device. No external software or drivers need to be installed to use this headset.
