Installing the Coolink Corator DS

Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Accessories

No, you're not seeing things; that is the Noctua SecuFirm2 mounting system. I was pleasantly surprised to see this when I opened the accessories box. The system is very easy to install and works with all of the Intel LGA sockets as well as the sometimes forgotten AMD AM2, AM2+ and AMD3 sockets.

SecuFrim Mounting plate

Let’s start with the backing plate. It is made of steel with a layer of plastic and foam. The center of the foam can be removed to clear the socket backing plate of the LGA1156 and 1366 sockets.

SecuFrim Mounting plate notches

The backing plate has notches to clear the mounting screws for the LGA1156 socket backing plate.

SecuFrim Mounting plate slots

To allow the mounting system to work with the 3 Intel sockets that are all different sizes the backing plate has the 3 positions needed to fit each socket.

SecuFrim Mounting plate hole key

To take some guess work out of what hole is for which socket the backing plate is stamped with a Key on the backing plate itself so you can’t lose it.

SecuFrim Mounting system installed

Installing the SecuFrim2 system is easy and very straight forward. Here I have it installed on our Intel DX58SO motherboard. It easily clears the components around the socket.

Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Installed

Here we have the Coolink Corator DS installed. As you can see there are some things blocked on our Intel DX58SO motherboard. This is nothing new, but this will give you a feel for things like RAM clearance.

Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler RAM Clearance

As we can see here the bottom fin clears everything, but covers things as well. There is only 41mm of head room for RAM, so if you have tall RAM then you will need to do some measuring of your system to see where the RAM slots fall in relation to the cooler. If the first RAM slot is to the right of the socket and less than 65mm (2.5 inches) from the center of the socket there are going to be issues. If your RAM slots are to the top side of the socket like on our DX58SO, anything closer than 70mm (2.75 inches) is going to be an issue.
