TS-459 Pro - FTP Speed Test

As in the last review, we will start with benchmarking the FTP speeds on the TS-459 Pro. For this, we downloaded the latest version of SmartFTP (4.0 Build 1072) and transferred a file from the client system to the TS-459 Pro ftp server.

The TS-419P transferred a 1GB movie file to the ftp server (Computer to NAS) at about 15 MB/sec. The TS-459 Pro transferred the file slightly faster at about 18 MB/sec.

I then tested the download speeds on the TS-459 Pro (NAS to Computer) and noted a huge increase over the TS-419P. The TS-419P ftp download speed was about 51-52 MB/sec and the TS 459 Pro download speed was about 70 MB/sec.

When Port Trunking with Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing was enabled, I performed the upload and download test to see if there was any advantage of having this turned on. When uploading a file (Computer to NAS) there was not much of an increase in speed; however, I did see a performance gain of another 15 MB/sec when transferring the file back from the NAS to Computer.
