HD Tach v3.0.4.0

HD Tach is a low level hardware benchmark for random access read/write storage devices such as hard drives, removable drives (ZIP/JAZZ), flash devices, and RAID arrays. HD Tach uses custom device drivers and other low level Windows interfaces to bypass as many layers of software as possible and get as close to the physical performance of the device possible.

HD Tach Benchmark Results

Benchmark Results: The OCZ Vertex LE 100GB SSD was able to reach 245MB/s read and 204MB/s write. The random access time and CPU utilization were really low, which is what we like to see on SSDs.

HD Tach Benchmark Results

Comparison Chart: The OCZ Vertex LE 100GB and Vertex 2 Pro 100GB SSDs were nearly identical in performance as they use the same controller and differ for the most part by the firmware only. The Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB drive with the ability to do SATA 6Gbps dominated the group for the average read speed, but fell just short to the Vertex LE 100GB drive in the write test. All of the drives were benchmarked on the Marvell SATA 6Gbps controller in order for the testing to be fair in all of the benchmarks. The random access times for all of the drives were 0.1 ms or lower, so nothing significant to see there.
