Temperature Testing

Since video card temperatures and the heat generated by next-generation cards have become an area of concern among enthusiasts and gamers, we want to take a closer look at how the ECS GeForce GT 240 does at idle and under a full load.

ECS GeForce GT 240 Idle Temperature:

At idle the ECS GeForce GT 240 video card with the Arctic Cooling designed cooler had a excellent idle temperature of 25C. The GPU core clock frequency and Memory frequency drops down to just 135 MHz to help conserve power and lower temperatures.

We fired up FurMark and ran the stability at 1024x768 which was enough to put the GPU at 100% load in order to get the highest load temperature possible. This application also charted the temperature results so you can see how the temperature rises and levels off, which is very nice. The ECS GeForce GT 240 graphics card topped out at 50C. These are great temperatures and just to compare some results the EVGA GeForce GT 240 SuperClocked video card maxed out at 73C when we reviewed that model. The fan on all of the video cards were left on auto during temperature testing and were both quieter than the CPU cooler on our test system. The fan speed never increased over what it was at idle, just 35%.
