CES 2010: ECS
One of our many stops at CES this year was a visit ECS. While there we got a chance to check out their recently launched "Gold" line of motherboards. Designed with the enthusiast in mind, these up the ante on the Black Series by adding extra gold to their socket and slot contacts. This improves the contact made with each component, and ECS claims that this will offer better reliability and a longer life.
Here we see the ECS A785GM-AD3, one such Gold Series motherboard.
Also on hand were a number of now shipping H55 motherboards. The photo above is a H55 Mini ITX motherboard. This could be used in a powerful, and low energy consumption, HTPC system. With 4 SATA ports you should have plenty of storage if you aren't in need of a NAS or file server.
This particular H55 motherboard from ECS has a feature that detects if the CPU installed is a Clarkdale. If one were to accidentally install a Lynnfield CPU and no graphics card is installed it will light up a red light to tell you that you have the wrong CPU installed for the configuration.
